Eligibility for CWCN - Certified Wound Care Nurse Exam

The candidate appearing for the CWCN examination must have an unrestricted and current registered nurse license. The applicant must posses a minimum of baccalaureate degree in the relevant field and must acknowledge one of the under written conditions:

• The candidate should have acquired 1500 hours of experience in wound care in the past five years among which 375 hours should be in the last year. The candidate should also acquire 50 hours of continuing education in wound care in last 5 years. OR
• The candidates have successfully completed a graduate level educational program in nursing with at least semester credits in wound care. OR
• The candidate should have successfully completed any WOC nursing program and send application within the five years.

Format for CWCN - Certified Wound Care Nurse Exam

The CWCN examination is a computer based exam that has a total of 90 questions. All the questions are in the multiple choice format. Out of that 80 questions are scored while the rest of the questions are for future references. The following subject areas are covered in the certified wound care nurse exam:

• General principals of management
• General principals of assessment
• Pressure ulcers
• Other types of wounds
• Lower extremity ulcers
