For getting a certificate in teaching in the state of Oklahoma, a new teacher needs to pass three tests that include the: Oklahoma General Education Test or OGET, Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination or OPTE, and finally the Oklahoma Subject Area Tests. - Promoting Academic, Social/Emotional, and Career Development
- Meeting Individual, Group, and Schoolwide Needs
- The School Counseling Program and Professional Knowledge
- Constructed-Response Assignment

Format of OSAT School Counselor Exam (139)
The format of the OSAT 139 or School COunselor test is:
- Computer-based test (CBT)
- 80 selected-response questions
- 1 constructed-response assignment
- Duration up to 4 hours and 15 minutes
- 4 hours for filling out the exam questions
- 15 minutes for tutorial and agreement signing
This means, this is a timed and computer-based test with multiple-choice questions. The test can be taken year-round except for Sundays and some holidays.
How to Apply for OSAT School Counselor Exam (139)
In need of taking an OSAT test, all entry-level teachers will use their identification number for teaching in the state of Oklahoma. All teachers from the state will automatically acquire a teaching ID when applying to the OGET test. The candidate can register online and pay the fee for taking the test. After that, the application will be valid for one year. After registration, the candidate needs to choose a date on which to take the test and a location, in designated sites around the USA. A fee total of $135 applies for taking this test.
Scores for OSAT School Counselor Exam (139)
All OSAT tests can be rated between 100 and 300 points, and when receiving the official results of the test, one should make sure their results are over 240 points. This is considered to be a passing score for the OSAT School Counselor Exam. Official test results are available online, on the official testing site, after taking the test.
