GACE Political Science Exam Study Guide


Political science is that branch of social science that involves study of state, government and politics. It relates to the techniques, strategies and concepts adopted in the past by the leaders for the welfare of the people in their region. Candidate should be capable enough to quote examples to make the subject more understanding and interesting. To check this competency of the educator, GPSC (Georgia Professional Standard Commission) conducts GACE Political Science Exam. Candidate passing this exam gets the certification from the GPSC board to practice as a political science educator in the Georgia State. GACE Political science Exam includes two sub tests. Candidate needs to pass in both the sub tests to get the credentials from the GPSC board.

Candidate can file his application through any of the medium i.e internet, mail or telephone. Candidate is eligible to select his examination mode- either pen pencil or computer based.

Eligibility for GACE Political Science Exam


To appear for GACE Political science Exam, candidate needs to meet all the eligibility conditions issued by the board. First of all, for getting the renewable certification candidate should have bachelor degree and certification from the state approved college.

If the candidate is not having any certification, however he/she is enrolled in any certification program run by state approved college then also he/she can apply for the non renewable certification. This non renewable certification is subjected to change into renewable one as soon as the candidate earns the certification.

Format of GACE Political Science Exam


GACE Political science Exam includes subjective and objective questions. Each sub test includes 60 objective and 2 subjective questions.

Sub test I

  • Concepts and principles of political science 17 objective questions
  • U.S. Government foundations 17 objective questions and 1 subjective question
  • Federation of U.S. Government 26 objective questions and 1 subjective question

Sub test II

  • Local and state Government 20 objective questions
  • Citizenship and importance of Democracy 20 objective questions and 1 subjective question
  • International relations 20 objective questions and 1 subjective question

Scoring of GACE Political science Exam is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks. If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam, then he is liable to appear again in the exam after the period of 30 days.
