THEA - Texas Higher Education Assessment Test Study Guide


Before you could step up with the higher studies or begin your college or university course work in Texas you have to demonstrate your skills and capabilities. This can be done by taking the SAT or ACT test and there are also several alternatives available to these two tests and the prominent among them is the Texas Higher Education Assessment test or commonly known as the THEA test. This is basically a test of skills of students that are considered essential for college level course work.

THEA Exam Format


The THEA test is divided into three sections. The THEA examination is in the multiple choice format and requires the candidate to choose the opt one among the rest.

THEA Reading Test This section includes the questions based on the reading passages. The questions may be asked in a twisted format, so finding out the answers may seem quite confusing even though you have read the passage thoroughly.

The Mathematics Test This section tests the candidate's abilities to solve and perform mathematical operations. Though the use of simple calculator is permitted, yet the aspirant need to get good with the formulas and equation resolving tactics.

THEA Writing Test The candidate's abilities to organize and expression are put to test here. This part of the THEA test has two subsections- one is MCQ based and the other one is writing sample subsection.

For passing the test the candidate has to clear all the sections of the test and the test lasts for around five hours.

THEA Study Guide Preparation


Most candidates resort to cramming, but this is not going to do any good, but is going to set everything intermixed that you have practised and learnt. Begin with the basic and then move to the higher levels. Make sure everything you are learning, you are able to recall perfectly. You can take the help of your tutors or can even refer the sample test papers. That will give you an idea of the THEA exam and will let you prepare well.
