Candidates need to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills for the teaching career by taking the Praxis test. It is specifically intended to be consistent with recommendations based on National studies on mathematics education such as the National Governors Association Center for Best practices and Council of Chief State School officers Common Core State Standards in Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and Council of the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.

The syllabus for Praxis Geometry Exam covers the following topics-
.- Properties related to Geometric Plane Shapes, Similarity, Congruence, Proof, Trigonometry and Constructions, and Trigonometry. Total number of questions- 24, Percentage covered- 48%
- Circles, Three-Dimensional Geometry and Geometric modeling, Coordinate Geometry Total number of questions- 26, Percentage covered- 58%
- Candidates are allotted 130 minutes for the examination.
- The total number of questions is 50 which includes selected-response questions, numeric entry questions.
