Independent School Entrance Exam - ISEE

The Independent School entrance exam is taken by several selective students in America . This test is designed to measure the student's ability to learn and see the extent of knowledge that he has acquired.   The ISEE has three levels: the Lower level, for entrance in grades 5-6; Middle level, for entrance in grades 7-8; Upper level, for entrance in grades 9-12.  

ISEE test format

Except for the essay section the complete ISEE exam is as multiple choice question based exam. The independent School entrance exam consists of five sections:

The first section is of verbal reasoning and it tests the candidate's abilities with synonyms recognition and sentence completion skills. There are 40 questions in this section and lasts for around 20 minutes.

The second one is the quantitative reasoning section that features questions based on basic algebra, geometry and understanding advanced concepts and their problem solving. This section has 35 questions and the time allotted is also 35 minutes.

The third section is of the reading comprehension that contains 40 questions and lasts for around 40 minutes. There are a number of passages that the candidates are required to read and answer the following questions.

Then comes the actual mathematical section that tests the candidate's knowledge with understanding the advanced mathematical problems and appling them for problem solving. This section has 45 questions that are to be completed in 40 minutes.

The final section that lasts for 30 minutes requires the candidates to write an essay over the given topic.
